Colleen RJC Bratton & Polina Tereshina: Real Time

DEC 16 – JAN 17 2016

Reception & Artist Talks: Thursday December 17th, 6:00-7:30pm

Using organic forms, Polina Tereshina and Colleen RJC Bratton seek to manifest the intangible. Real Time brings into consideration the moments in our lives that evade definition. Bratton’s soft geometry focuses on the narrative of two individuals following the exchange of a covenant. Tereshina considers the peculiar areas of our emotional landscape by alluding to tensions and subtle sensations through a range of evocative forms. Together their work is an introspective look at real abstractions through a formalist approach

Anything That Breathes

28. June 2015

Original works by Polina Tereshina and Rob Katkowski

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 2nd . 6-9 pm

"There are things you know about, and things you don’t, the known and the unknown, and in between are the doors." – Ray Manzarek

Beginning July 2nd, Artifact has the pleasure of hosting new oil, acrylic and ink paintings on canvas and paper by Seattle artists, Polina Tereshina and Rob Katkowski.

Having previously exhibited work in the Northeast and Southern United States, this will be the first gallery showing for Tereshina and Katkowski in the Pacific Northwest.

Anything that Breathes is a collection of doorways into known and unknown spaces. Each work a captured moment, a memory, each an idea of place, of people... real and imagined experiences, brimmed with mystery.

Through line, color, and plane the show evokes transient thought. Spaces are created with filtered context, compelling the viewer to look inward

Wandering and open-ended reflections suggest a human struggle for balance; our desire for exploration against the comfort of what we already know.

Tereshina and Katkowski create passing feelings, private periods of disorientation and resolution, and doors to the abstract space in-between.
